Setting up an automated Birthday Email

Let your email system work for you around the clock using Automated Emails.

1) Adding a Custom Field with DATE

  • Login to Send Constant
  • Click 'View All Lists"
  • Click the "List" name  you want to set up automation
  • Click Custom Fields
  • Add a DOB and select Date for Data Type
  • Click Add Custom Field

2) Add Dummy Contact

  • Click back to lists
  • Click the "List" name  you want to create dummy contact
  • Click Add Subscriber
  • Enter Name,email under "Add name and email per line"
  • Ex: Luke Skywalker, Luke@jedischool.com
  • Click Add
  • Search top right in the list
  • Click Dummy Name
  • Add DOB in date field


Once you add a date field and add a subscriber with a date - AR will be unlocked.

But first you have to build the email and save as a template.

3) Creating a template email

  • Duplicate a campaign that has your footer
  • Create the email as you would like it to send
  • Add "Your birthday is coming up - its time to party!" as Campaign Title and Subject Line or whatever you want
  • MOST IMPORTANT Click Checkbox "Also save as a template?"
  • Click Save

4) Setting up the AR using a DATE

  • Click 'View All Lists"
  • Click the "List" name  you want to set up automation
  • Click Autoresponders
  • Click "Create a new autoresponder"
  • Name the AR
  • Choose Send Annually
  • Based on Date (can only be used once per series)

5) Set the cadence for sending

  • Adjust send settings to "BEFORE" set 30 days (your choice)

5) Setting up the email using template

  • Click "Select a template"
  • Select Birthday Email Template
  • Adjust the Query String = bday
  • Make final adjustments to links / email
  • Click SAVE
  • If you are ready to send > Move Enable to Yes

If you are ready to send > move Enabled to Yes

Congrats you have completed your first automated email set up.
